Two Quotes to save the world by?

February 19, 2008

I came across these two quotes in my reading this week, and as I copied them and looked at them on the piece of paper together, I realized it would be a very different world if the people who make the decisions that affect large numbers of people used these simple lines as guidance.

“Love, compassion, and tolerance are necessities, not luxuries. Without them humanity will not survive.”

The Dalai Lama

“Wisdom is knowledge plus: Knowledge — and the knowledge of its own limits.”

Viktor Frankl

    Nice!

I always say this prayer: “Please let those who are in power in this world make their decisions based on love, kindness, generosity, compassion and a desire for peace.”

What a world it could be if leaders used the two quotes you’ve listed as guides.

Your prayer is great! I am going to join you in this one. I hope it works.

I’m so glad you like it. Maybe I’ll post it on my blog one of these days. Strength in numbers and all…I’m glad you’re joining me.

Here’s another I say: “Please let every human being on earth be provided with food, clothing, shelter, safety and love.”

Just thought I’d throw that one out, in case you wanted to join me on that one too. :)

I often quote the Dalai Lama to myself… the words humble me and comfort me. Both of these are perfect.

Moonbeam: I will use this one too. It really can’t hurt to pray like this. The more the better.

Narnie: It makes me smile just knowing the Dalai Lama is somewhere in the world radiating love and peace.

Is that also attributed to the Dalai Lama?
    >“Please let every human being on earth be provided with food, clothing, shelter, safety and love.”<
